Suffolk Courts Update

President's Message
Mar 15, 2020

I just spoke to Suffolk County District Executive Warren Clark and he has informed me that the Suffolk County Courts will be open tomorrow business as usual.  Beginning at 5 PM tomorrow and until further notice, all essential Court operations will be in held in Central Islip.  This includes any essential County Court business. Trials currently in progress will be completed  in Central Islip. It is my understanding that no new trials will begin. This will clearly limit the amount of people into the buildings. It will also eliminate the need for full staffing.  A determination will be made by tomorrow which staff is necessary and which staff is not.  People who are not needed will be allowed to stay home without charging accruals. Those who are required to come to work will receive minute for minute comp time.  Everyone should know by the end of business tomorrow whether they are required to report to work on Tuesday. Remember all details for the most part will be worked out tomorrow.
