On February 17, 2021 the office of 1st Vice President became vacant when Charles P. Markert retired. On February 23, 2021 a notification was sent out to the membership via email (as well as posted prior to the email notification) of the vacancy. The SCCEA received only a few nominations for the position, however the only letter of acceptance submitted was from Joey Gagnon on February 25, 2021. On March 4, 2021, since there were no further nominations received or accepted, Joey Gagnon remained the only candidate for the position. The 1 (one) electing vote was cast by a member of the executive board, and Joey Gagnon was named 1st Vice President.
On behalf of the Executive Board, I would like to congratulate Joey Gagnon on his victory and wish him well in his new position of 1st Vice President. I am confident that Joey will be successful in his new role and will continue to represent the SCCEA to the best of his ability.
I want to remind everyone that in the coming month that several positions on the Executive Board will be up for election. Participation from the membership is paramount in maintaining a strong and united Union.
