COVID Vaccine Update

President's Message
Jan 12, 2021

On 1/11/2021 at 8:30 am all of the Unions in the NYS Courts held a conference call regarding the lack of direction from OCA about the COVID-19 vaccine. It is apparent to all the Unions that OCA has once again dropped the ball and does not have a plan in place to vaccinate our members.

Today begins the CDC's Phase 1b for the COVID vaccine. Under their guidelines the following people are eligible: first responders, *public safety workers*, public transit workers, those in education, police and the dept. of corrections, people 75 and older, and certain non-health care essential workers.

It is the belief of the Unions that all court employees (we are not 100% sure) can be vaccinated under Phase 1b * public safety workers*. As of now the best information we can give you is to click here and follow the guide to make an appointment near you. The Suffolk County Department of Health also has information on their website for receiving the vaccine.

The Union Board is not satisfied that this is our best option for getting the vaccine but as of today it is our only option. SCCEA will keep fighting along with our brother unions to get our members a better path to vaccination. SCCEA will update the membership once there are any new developments.
